The opening ceremony of CNGR Morocco Industrial Base was successfully held, opening a new chapter in the African new energy materials industry

Creation date:2025-06-27 source:
On June 25, 2025, local time in Morocco, CNGR Group's subsidiary CNGR Shares, in cooperation with AL MADA, one of the largest private investment funds in Africa, held a grand opening ceremony for the first phase of the CNGR Morocco Industrial Base project in the JORF LASFAR area of Morocco. Leaders and guests from the Moroccan government, CNGR Corporation, AL MADA, and cooperative partners attended.

The full commissioning of the first phase of the project with an annual output of 40000 tons of nickel series materials is not only an important milestone for the global development of China and Venezuela, but also the world's first new energy materials base put into operation in Africa. At the same time, it shows China and Venezuela's firm determination to actively respond to the "the Belt and Road" initiative, deepen China Africa cooperation, and promote China Morocco friendly relations.

Strong alliance between leading enterprises in China and Africa

to create a benchmark project for China Africa cooperation

From the signing of the contract in September 2023, to the first production line being put into operation in January 2025, and then to the full operation of the first phase of the project, CNGR Corporation and AL MADA have worked together sincerely, overcoming multiple challenges such as tight project cycles and difficult technical implementation with efficient execution and professional collaboration. Under the collaboration of both parties, the project has not only accelerated the entire process from signing to production, but also established a deep cooperation system covering the field of new energy materials, laying a solid foundation for both parties to seize strategic opportunities in the global industrial chain layout, achieving a cooperation model of resource integration and complementary advantages among multinational enterprises, and setting a new benchmark for international production capacity cooperation in the industry. The CNGR Morocco Industrial Base, which has been put into operation this time, covers an overall planned area of over 200 hectares. As the first project of its kind in Africa and a pioneering practice worldwide except for Asia, it has attracted much attention. The project will be gradually promoted in three complementary industrial projects, with a final annual production capacity of 70GWh, capable of supplying battery materials for nearly one million electric vehicles. The products will mainly be sold to North Africa, Europe, and the United States markets. Based on Morocco's highly attractive industrial environment, low-cost green energy, world-class mineral resources, and a wide network of free trade agreements close to the European and American markets, the base has planned a complete industrial chain layout, covering an annual production capacity of 120000 tons of ternary precursors; After the ecological maturity of lithium iron phosphate batteries in the region, an LFP positive electrode material production line with an annual output of 60000 tons will be deployed; At the same time, equipped with key metal refining and waste battery recycling units with an annual processing capacity of over 60000 tons, it enhances the local utilization level and recycling capacity of raw materials.

Practice ESG concept

Help local sustainable development

As a key project of China Morocco cooperation, the construction of CNGR Morocco Industrial Base has always adhered to the concept of "rooting in the local area and empowering development", driving people's livelihood improvement and technological upgrading through industrial landing.

In terms of sustainable development, CNGR Morocco Industrial Base has established low-carbon goals from the beginning of planning and implemented a series of environmental protection measures. The base adopts green and low-carbon production processes, gradually increasing the proportion of green energy use, using desalinated seawater, and promoting industrial recycling and other measures, making green and low-carbon the most distinctive feature of the base. At the same time, the base actively promotes international ISO standard certification, participates in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), and benchmarks against the Scientific Carbon Target Initiative (SBTi). Through cooperation with Moroccan universities and technology partners, CNGR promotes talent cultivation, assists Morocco in building a local battery industry talent pool, and constructs a new energy battery industry ecosystem.

In the future, CNGR will continue to respond and participate in the high-quality development of the "the Belt and Road", and continue to deepen cooperation with African partners with the support of CNGR's Moroccan industrial base. Relying on over 10 years of management and operation experience, as well as research and development technology accumulation in the field of new energy materials, we continuously optimize our industrial layout and contribute to the development of the global new energy industry with the "CNGR Power". On the path of promoting China Morocco friendship and promoting China Africa cooperation, we will continue to write more wonderful chapters.
